How to Prevent Overheating of Your Conservatory
Conservatories are infamous for being like human greenhouses in summer (and like a freezer in winter), but this shouldn’t be the case. We really want anyone who has a conservatory installed with us to experience the British summertime (without melting), so here are a few ways that you can stop your conservatory from overheating.
UV, Heat and Glare resistant materials
When we install your chic new conservatory, our team only use the most cutting-edge in double glazing technology. The materials we use do a fantastic job at temperature control, meaning that the unbearable heat in the conservatory during summer is a thing of the past. UV protection also means that you won’t have to worry about getting burnt inside either and with the added bonus of anti-glare, we’re sure you’ll be spending most of this summer between the garden and conservatory.
Conservatory cooling film
This is a good retrofit for an existing conservatory. Cooling film is a really cost-effective way of making your conservatory more liveable in the heat. These adhesive films do a good job of reducing the impact of a heatwave. Without compromising on light from passing through, their ability to absorb solar radiation can make a huge difference in keeping your conservatory a lot cooler. For their relatively low price, these are a great quick-fix, but it’s a good idea to get them fitted by professionals. If you’d like to know more about this, just call us, we are happy to help you make the right choices.
Air conditioning
Whilst definitely an investment, air conditioning your conservatory can actually be useful all year round. From small devices to larger appliances, there is a range of units available to suit any budget and conservatory size. We recommend choosing a unit that can both cool and heat making your conservatory a comfortable temperature all year round.
Good ventilation
Now, this might sound rather obvious, but probably the simplest method of cooling is to just open the doors and windows more often, it will make a world of difference. Be sure to let in some of that lovely summer breeze to improve your conservatory’s ventilation. Remember the simple principle of in and out, so open windows on opposite sides of the conservatory to create a natural flow of air.
We hope that these ideas can help you to make a difference in your conservatory and make it a great place to be for all the family. For more information on how we can improve your conservatory, or even help you install one, give us a call at 01787 477231 today.
